MAXI ANNOUNCEMENT; MINI NEWS
— much ado about not much

After spending over 25 years in the graphic arts industry, I’ll admit to being more than a little intrigued by an email from the folks at Mini last week, espousing the virtues of its new logo.
This was my reaction:
In case you missed it, here’s the new logo (at top of page), which Mini tells us “…combines the elements from the early phase of the classic Mini with a future-oriented appearance that focuses on the essentials.” It will begin appearing on Mini vehicles from March 2018 onwards
It amazes me that people get paid to “design” this stuff. From here it looks like the old logo with all of the design elements removed. Kind of like taking your company newsletter, which your PR department professionally produces on a computer, and having someone from the temp agency bang it out on a Royal typewriter.

It got me thinking about some other automotive logos, both present and past. Some good. Some, eh, not so good.
