The last time I posted one of these we got some rather disparaging remarks from fans of older versions of the marque. But this 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had 358,190 siblings leave the factory in this, it’s first down-sized year, so somebody liked them. Yes, sales were down from the bigger ’77 models, but 358,191 sales, I don’t believe, can be considered a failure. At the risk of once again awakening the ire of Big Monte fans, I’ll state here and now that I like these better. They’re not small cars by any means, but were roomy and comfortable for an average family (like mine was back in the day when we had one of these). Found this one hiding in the back lot at a recent Cadillac owners’ show in Williamsville.
