by Jim Corbran, Automotive Columnist Like it or not, now that August is here it’s time for us to be bombarded with back-to-school articles, sales, and lists. And this is one of them. But it’s one you never would have read about when I was a youngster: cars for your student to drive back to school in. We went back to school in either a school bus or public transportation. Or walked. But nowadays the high school parking lot is filled to (over) capacity with cars, pickups, and SUVs. And most of them don’t belong to the teachers. (And yes, I know that “back-to-school” also refers to college.) Kelley Blue Book has just come out with their list of the “10 Best Back-to-School Cars 2015.” On it are such (relatively) inexpensive things as the Nissan Versa Note, Kia Soul, and, one that caught my eye, the Ford Fiesta. I have the opportunity to drive a Fiesta almost daily, and I can vouch for its nimble handling, good gas mileage, and roominess. I’ve also driven most of the other cars (the Scion iM isn’t out yet) and for the most part I don’t object to them being on the list. However… the Chevy Colorado? Although it is Chevy’s “smaller” pickup, these things are still huge to drive and, more specifically, to park. And with minimal enclosed storage space (it is a pickup, after all) I don’t see this as a very practical “back-to-school” ride, unless you live somewhere that never sees rain… or snow. You can view the entire list (and read Kelley’s rationale) here: KBB top ten list ### The post BACK-TO-SCHOOL CARS appeared first on Buffalo Cars.
