HYUNDAI ENTERS THE FRAY OF WEIRDLY-NAMED CARS … by Jim Corbran, Automotive Columnist Anyone who’s gone through life with an oddly-spelled name (we’re talking about you, Jhonny Peralta!) knows too-well the frustration of always having to spell it out for everyone. Well, here’s the perfect car for you folks. Hyundai has just announced, at the New York International Auto Show, it’s new line of hybrid/electrics the… get ready for it! — Ioniq. Powertrain choices will be a 1.6L four-cylinder, along with a 32 kW electric motor driving both the Ioniq Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, while the Ioniq Electric will offer pure electric mobility with a 28 kWh lithium-ion battery powering an electric motor which will have an output of 60 hp and an estimated driving range of 110 miles. The styling is pleasantly Hyundai-ish, while not screaming “Look at me, I’m different!” Interiors are feature-packed and there are plenty of gadgets to satisfy most buyers who like to keep up with things. Lol. The Ioniq Electric will be available this fall, with the Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid following in the winter and next summer, respectively More info?
