THOROLD, Ontario – The first time we came across the vanity license plate ITS JUNK, it was displayed on the old Chevy sedan of Chippawa’s Ray St. Jean, which at some point in time had its roof cut off (inset). So when we found ourselves on Front Street in Thorold at a weekly cruise night over the summer, and came across the same plate gracing today’s RealRide, a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Cabriolet, we were pretty sure Ray was probably somewhere in the neighborhood. The Cabrio didn’t need to go under the torch, as it left the factory ready for open-air driving. That’s not to say it’s totally stock though — it’s sitting on a modern chassis with power windows, steering, and brakes. And as you can see when comparing it to the brochure illustration below, it sits somewhat closer to the ground.
