RealRides of WNY #2464 ......................... 1983 Buick Skylark T Type

WHEATFIELD, N.Y.
– while doing a little research on today’s RealRide — a 1983 Buick Skylark T Type, I believe I came across this actual car in a 2017 Hemmings Motor News $5,000 Challenge magazine article (you can read it here). There’ve been a few changes to the car between the time the article appeared and when we found it back in September in a used car lot/repair garage parking area (e.g., the rear quarter panel T Type decal; but, note the blue sticker in the reg. spot on the windshield, and the matching mudflaps). Model year 1983 was the first for the Skylark T Type, which was equipped with a high-output 2.8L V6 and came with a special tuned exhaust and a four-speed manual transmission. Only 2,489 were produced in that inaugural year, and another 924 for 1984, its last. The rest of the X-bodied Skylark lineup (down to just two models — Custom and Limited four-door sedans) would last one more year after that.
