BUFFALO, N.Y. – Being “mechanically challenged,” I’ve never understood a lot of things about how a car runs. So when I noticed the Fluid Drive emblem on the front of this 1947 DeSoto DeLuxe I headed to the internet for what I hoped would be a lay person’s description of how this then-new type of transmission worked. I found something in a copy of the owners manual on oldcarbrochures.com. I'm still at sea. Check it out for yourself down below, and if you can explain it better I’m all ears. Today’s RealRide, which is actually a two-tone (Royal Maroon & Black? Factory combination?), was seen a couple of months ago over on the West Side.
