RealRides of WNY #2467 ......................... 1961 Pontiac Bonneville

ELMA, N.Y.
– Whatever happened to cool engine names? The 1961 Pontiac Bonneville was “…powered by the new, fuel-saving Trophy V-8 Engine!” A Trophy V-8 just sounds so much better than a plain ol’ V8. Back in the 1950-60s Buick offered a Fireball V-8, Oldsmobile the Rocket V-8, and Dodge the Red Ram V-8. These days? Ford’s EcoBoost and GM’s ECOTEC engines sound like they were named by the same committee, while all these years later Chrysler’s still foisting the HEMI name on us. Meh, I say. Today’s Trophy-powered RealRide was seen at the 2021 St. Gabriel’s Car Show.
