LEWISTON, N.Y. – I’m betting that the day we came across this 1981 Lancia Zagato it was the only one in the village. Probably also the only one in all of Lewiston, town or village. Heck, it was most likely the only one in Niagara County! (We did see one in Youngstown in 2013 however, so, there’s that. See our old You Auto Know blog entry below.) Lancia touted the Zagato as a “…convertible grand touring car as comfortable as a sedan” going on to describe it as “Elegant yet practical. Luxurious yet affordable.” Designed by Pininfarina, the Zagato may have lost a little in the transformation from the Beta coupe it was based on (as seen in the brochure illustrations below) but it’s still (IMO) a handsome automobile.
