RealRides of WNY #2492 ......................... 1986 Dodge Shelby

WELLAND, Ont.
– How often do you see a Dodge Omni at a car show (besides almost never)? It’s even rarer I’ll bet to see the two-door version, a car which started life as the 024 when introduced for MY 1979. A Charger version debuted for 1982, and eventually we’d arrive at today’s RealRide: a 1986 Dodge Shelby, which was a Charger with modifications designed by the legendary Carroll Shelby, perhaps best known for his work with Ford on the Cobra and its Mustang variations. The Dodge Shelby (also badged as the Charger GLH-S) had a modified suspension, oversized braking system, specially modified turbocharger, and of course a few interior and exterior upgrades to make it stand out from the regular Charger coupes in the neighborhood. We saw this one (for sale) at last summer’s Mopar Classic Car Show at Rose City Chrysler.
