CAMBRIA, N.Y. – It’s missing a few bumper bits in the rear, but otherwise this c1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 looks to be pretty much intact. Well, except for what looks like discount store wheelcovers. The Spirit-based 4-wheel-drive Eagles came in two body styles: this hatchback, and what AMC called the Kammback (bottom of page) whose rear window opened for easy access to the space behind the back seat. It was very Gremlin-ish. In their literature, AMC may have stretched things a bit with this SX/4 description: “Wrapped up in this sleek sports car are all the driving comforts you’d expect…” Sports car? I dunno. I think I could find a few Miata/240Z/TR6 drivers who might like to have a chat with those copy writers.
