LANCASTER, N.Y. – The 1949 Plymouth Special DeLuxe pictured in that year’s brochure was accompanied by a caption which read “White side-wall tires, steel wheel covers, and rear fender scuff guards are optional equipment at extra cost.” All three items can also be found on today’s RealRide, of which Plymouth went on to boast “You don’t grope for a starter button or pedal. You don’t pull on a choke. You simply turn the ignition key—and the engine starts!” Well, except for pulling the choke, haven’t we come full-circle since 1949! Starter buttons/toggle switches are what all the cool kids are using again these days
