RealRides of WNY #2524 ......................... 1957 Mercury Monterey

DUNNVILLE, ON.
– It’s nearly impossible to attend a cruise night/car show without running into at least one car from 1957. Admittedly it’s usually a Chevy or a Ford, but every once in a while… And so it was on the lead-up to Canada Day in 2019 when we came across this 1957 Mercury Monterey at a weekly gathering in the Sobey’s parking lot. If you were buying one of these in Canada in 1957, you might have also looked at the very similar Monarch Lucerne (below), which was sold in Canada at Ford-Monarch dealerships. Differing mostly in trim pieces, the Monarch gave the Ford dealers something a little more upscale to sell in some of the less populated parts of Canada which weren’t big enough to support both a Ford and a Mercury-Lincoln store.
