RealRides of WNY #2576 ......................... 1951 Dodge Kingsway

ANCASTER, Ontario
– From the front this 1951 Dodge Kingsway looks like any other Dodge in the lineup. But a look around back reveals a Plymouth Concord body from the doors on back. This allowed Canadian Dodge dealers to sell a two-door sedan priced lower than the Wayfarer which was sold in the States. The already cheap Wayfarer two-door sedan rode on a wheelbase of 115 inches, while the span between the axles of Plymouth’s Concord (and thus the Kingsway) was four inches shorter. You can see the back ends of the Wayfarer and the Concord below. We saw the Kingsway at last year’s Rodmaster’s Car Club Fall Swap Meet & Car Show. It’s wearing a dealer trunk badge from Demeyere Plymouth Chrysler Limited of Simcoe, Ontario, a dealer still in business albeit at a different address (now on Queensway Street East; formerly on Norfolk Street South).
