RealRides of WNY #2580 ......................... 1954 Plymouth Plaza

LOCKPORT, N.Y. – If I’d have taken this photo in the last ten years or so, I would have noticed immediately that it was blurry and taken another one. As it happened, I didn’t know it was a bust until the prints came back from the drug store photo lab. But, I still hung on to this imperfect photo of the 1954 Plymouth Plaza business coupe you see here, a car which I saw decades ago (the yellow license plate suggests mid-1980s) at the annual Niagara County Car Show, because I really like the car. I kept telling myself that I’d probably see it again somewhere and get a better photo, but no, it hasn’t happened yet. The Plaza was Plymouth’s entry-level series, and was one of the cheapest looking cars available at the time. It also came in three other body styles (see below), all of which look much spiffier with the optional whitewall tires and full wheel covers. I imagine now that I’ve published this photo, I’ll see the car somewhere next week!
