KILLEEN, Texas – In all my years I don’t think I’ve ever seen a T-Bird with a front bench seat, but according to one of that year’s brochures, the owner of this 1968 Ford Thunderbird Landau could have had one if they so chose, as it was now standard equipment (see inset). Maybe Ford was trying to start something in that brochure by constantly referring to the car as the “Bird,” but I think they laid an egg. For most of us it will always be the T-Bird, or perhaps ‘Bird with an apostrophe, but even that’s a pretty rare reference IMO. We saw this one back in 2013 sitting by the side of the road with a few other vintage, fading-paint cars, along with the expected chain link fence and an unexpectedly friendly “junkyard dog” who came right up to us and let us pet him through the fence.
