CLYMER, N.Y. – The phrase “Not your father’s Oldsmobile” used to get tossed around in the Lansing manufacturer’s advertising quite a bit back in the day. It was meant as a compliment to the new Olds models of 1988. Unfortunately, according to one of the originators of the ad campaign, it kind of bit them in the rear end as many listeners interpreted it as “Your father’s Olds was a better Olds.” Whoops. (Read an article about the subject by one of those ad campaign co-authors here.) Today’s RealRide, a 1964 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, maybe could have been your father’s Oldsmobile. With those tires and rims though, it certainly wouldn’t have been my father’s Olds, Lol. We saw this one at last year’s Fall Festival Car Show at Peek ‘N Peak.
