RealRides of WNY #2589 ......................... 1964 Ford Galaxie 500

TONAWANDA, N.Y.
– This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 features a body style which many people under the age of 30 might not recognize — the four-door pillarless hardtop. Popularized in the mid-1950s, it faded over the years, perhaps due to federal rollover safety standards which dictated stronger roof structures. The ’64 Ford offered two different four-door hardtops: this more family-friendly Galaxie 500; and the sportier Galaxie 500/XL which came with “thin-shell front bucket seats, foam cushioned, individually adjustable; full-length Command Console between front seats; and Dual-Range Cruise-O-Matic Drive with console-mounted ‘Sport-Stick.’” From here it looks like today’s RealRide is finished in Ford’s Pagoda Green.
