RealRides of WNY #2592 ......................... 1953 Buick Roadmaster

SANBORN, N.Y.
– Although this 1953 Buick Roadmaster was the Flint manufacturer’s top of the line car, unlike with later series beginning in the mid-1960s there wasn’t a whole lot going on on the outside to differentiate it from the base model Special. Yes, there was a bit more chrome trim, a fourth porthole on the front fender, and another four inches of wheelbase, but from a block away your neighbors didn’t really have much more to be jealous of had you saved a few bucks and went for the Special (see below). The small chrome vents atop the rear quarter panels just below the window line indicate that this RealRide came equipped with the rare-for-its-time factory air-conditioning. We saw it at a weekly cruise night at Hoover’s Restaurant back in 2018.
