This 1966 Ford Ranchero was brought to this year’s Festival at the Beach car show by Hamburg’s Tony Zanelotti. (The Pacer parked next to it was driven by his wife Carol.) This would be the seventh and final year that the Ranchero would be part of the Falcon lineup, with the ’67 models wearing the front clip of the midsize Fairlane series. Strangely, to me anyway, are the ’66 Ranchero’s taillights. At this point the Falcon wagons and the Ranchero were basically a Fairlane from the cowl back, but I guess that Ford figured with the Falcon being a “lesser” model than the Fairlane that they’d cheapen-up the taillights. The much spiffier Fairlane units (below) fit the same rear fender opening, and a Google search shows that several Ranchero owners have made that swap. The festival was held at Evangola State Park in Farnham/Brant/Evans/Irving (take your pick! Lol).
