RealRides of WNY #2372 (on the road) - 1958 Pontiac

Most of General Motors’ offerings for model year 1958 were one-and-done designs. (A big thank you to Chrysler Corporation and its 1957 Forward Look cars.) This 1958 Pontiac Star Chief is a prime example. Pontiac called it “The boldest advance in fifty years…” The Star Chief sat one notch below the new Bonneville series, and was available in two- and four-door hardtop, four-door sedan, and six-passenger station wagon models. Interestingly (to me, anyway), Pontiac offered a convertible only in the top-line Bonneville and bottom-line Chieftain series. All ’58 Pontiacs came with a 370cid V8 — horsepower ranged from 240 up to 310 depending on model. We saw this one over the summer at the Orchard Beach Assembly Cruise-In in North East, Pennsylvania. It’s sporting a Buckeye Pontiac badge on the trunklid, a former dealership which was located on Wick Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio.
