RealRides of WNY #2385 - 1986 Vanagon

If you’re wondering about the (temporary?) paint scheme on this 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon, owner Tom Hall of Hamburg tells us it’s to show solidarity for Ukraine.  A fairly recent acquisition, the Vanagon is already undergoing a few necessary repairs. Hard to imagine a 36-year-old vehicle missing a few parts but, hey, it happens! Luckily, this one’s pretty solid. On a side note, in our never-ending search for different VW model designations around the world, we came across a bi-lingual 1986 South African VW bus brochure (the cover of which is seen below in English and Afrikaans) which referred to a “…new fuel-injected 2,1 litre Volksie Bus.” That’s a new one on us. The rear hatch in an inside photo wore a Microbus badge. We saw Tom’s RealRide a few weeks ago at a Friday cruise night at the Moose Lodge in Hamburg.
