MEDINA, N.Y. - Sometimes I wish I had a business for which I could use something like this 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery as an advertising piece. Ford told us “…this beautiful unit is the last word in smart modern delivery equipment.” The sedan delivery (as well as the half-ton pickup) styling was derived from the sedan models; the more rugged panel trucks (3/4- and one-ton) were based on Ford’s truck lineup and (IMO) didn’t have quite the same charm (see bottom of page). This one’s got some fainted livery on the sides from Meland’s Meats & Grocers (ask Blanche your operator to ring them up at 333!). A little research turned up an ad (inset) for Meland’s in Medina, as well as a 1996 online obituary for Ellsworth F. Meland, who was a partner in the store. We saw this nifty delivery truck at a weekly cruise night in the village in the summer of 2021.
