We saw this 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28 for sale last summer in Tonawanda, and thought to ourselves that this would make a great summer ride. Of course, right now it’s winter, so I don’t imagine you’ll be seeing this one on WNY’s roads anytime soon. It would be a shame to subject it to our weather; after all, the windshield scribblings proudly proclaim that this one is a Nevada car with a clean underside. Hate to ruin that after all these years! A 5.7-liter V-8 was standard on ’79 Z28s, but it wasn’t all go… there was also some show, as Chevy liked to point out the simulated air induction scoop on the hood, the simulated air louvers in the front fenders, a rear spoiler, and (new this year) a low-slung air dam and front wheel opening flares. Almost 85,000 1979 Z28s drove out of Chevrolet showrooms.
