The 1962 Ford Thunderbird was in the middle of a three-year style cycle; model year 1964 would see a complete makeover which spelled the end of the familiar round taillights. The T-Bird’s tagline for 1962 was Unique in All the World, a year which marked the debut of a fourth edition to the lineup — the Sports Roadster, which joined the Hardtop, Convertible, and the vinyl-topped S-barred Landau. Standard engine was Ford’s 300-hp 390cid V-8; forking over an additional $242.10 would get you the 340-hp version. And, if you were the last of the big spenders, an additional $5.10 got you an outside rearview mirror. Saw this one a while back in Niagara Falls.
