This 1965 Chevrolet Impala, “The new standard of low-cost luxury” according to Chevy, is one of over 746,000 built with a V-8. We’re not just talking about full-sized Chevys here, that’s 746,000 V-8 Impalas! Throw in a few hundred thousand V-8 and six-equipped Biscaynes and Bel Airs, as well as almost 57,000 six-cylinder Impalas, and you’re talking some real sales numbers! Although it’s hard to make out in the photo, this one seems to have a 283 badge on the front fender. Other V-8 engines offered were the 327, 396, and the legendary 409. The standard six was a 230 cu.in. inline unit which produced 140 hp, while the standard 283 V-8 put out 195 hp. Saw this white Impala Sport Coupe a few years ago in North Tonawanda.
