
In case you missed the announcement when Oldsmobile downsized its big cars for model year 1977, the brochure for this 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale reminded us that it had “…a shortened turning radius,” and that “positive caster in the front suspension was increased.” Most buyers understood the first feature; but I imagine the latter one would have had many car shoppers searching Google for “positive caster”… if only Google had existed in 1978 (and no, don’t ask me either! Lol). One thing I do get is that the exterior color selection was much more interesting in 1978 than it is now, as witnessed by this Medium Green Metallic coupe with the harmonizing light green vinyl Landau top. Hard to tell in these photos, but there’s a matching green interior, too. Try finding anything like this on today’s new car lots. Saw this one a couple of weeks ago in Tonawanda.
