This 1979 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, seen a few days ago on Buffalo’s West Side, is wearing a dealer plaque from Courtesy Olds, which was located on Bronx Boulevard at East 236th Street in, where else? — The Bronx. The building is now occupied by a health care facility called Medical Pavillion. Olds touted their big wagon as “A working wagon with the elegance, comfort and ride you expect from Oldsmobile.” With the back seat down, the Cruiser had 87 cu. ft. of cargo space. This one has the imitation woodgrain applique seen on many (most?) of them; finding one without it these days is almost jarring (see bottom of page). Under the hood? Your choice of two 5.7L V-8 engines: the standard gasoline-powered version or the optional diesel.
