Here in the good ol’USA we know this car as a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. Drive a few miles north back in the day though, and you would have come across these cars badged as Valiant Barracudas (bottom of page), and they were being sold (sans any Plymouth markings) in Chrysler-Plymouth-Fargo dealerships as well as Dodge stores. In the US, the Barracuda came standard with Chrysler’s 225cid six (the smaller 170 was standard in Canada), with two different V8s of 273cid available as options. A security panel between the back seat and the normal trunk area meant you could still have a place for valuables which couldn’t be seen from the outside, while the fold-down rear seat made a seven-foot long cargo space available. We saw this handsome but unassuming V8-powered example last week at the 8thAnnual Super Cruise at Mt. St. Mary Academy in Kenmore.
