What hasn’t already been said about the 1969 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe? Not much, I’ll bet. We came across this one over the summer in the parking lot during the AACA Car Show in Elma. The copywriters at Chevy did manage to come up with a few lines to describe the latest version of the perennial best seller: “How would you like the idea of pushing a switch and having your rear window electrically defrosted?” And we learned “…the ride [had] become just about as smooth as a car can get and still maintain contact with the pavement.” Then there's my favorite: “There’s a big coil spring at every wheel.” If you still weren’t convinced, another glance at the Impala should have been “…enough to make you want to kick your old car.” I’m not sure if they meant that figuratively, or literally.
