This Bright Red 1974 Mercury Montego MX Villager was spotted last summer in Amherst at the International Station Wagon Club’s international convention held in Amherst. Oddly, in doing some research it seems as though the 1974 Montego wagon line wasn’t offered in Canada. Could this be? We say this because the Canadian Montego-specific brochure makes no mention of a station wagon. But here in the States, if you were the type to splurge for the Villager over the more base MX wagon, you were rewarded with: simulated woodgrain bodyside and tailgate paneling with bright moldings, power tailgate window, HR78x14 steel-belted radials, flight bench seat with center armrest, and simulated cherrywood on the instrument panel cluster face and right-side panel applique. (Congratulations readers, for being on hand for the first usage of the term cluster face here on RealRides!)
