RealRides of WNY - 1969 GTO

I’m guessing that there are more cars like this 1969 Pontiac GTO that are now wearing dog dish hubcaps then there were back in 1969. That being said, I like the look. This one (seen a couple of summers ago at a Cruising On the Q cruise night on Queen Street in Niagara Falls, Ontario) has the optional 400cid, 366-hp Ram Air IV engine with functional hood scoops, as well as a hood-mounted tach. Under the standard equipment heading in the Canadian brochure, Pontiac pointed out, among other things, its:

  • Uniform Shift Quadrant (P R N D L)
  • Snag-resistant steering wheel hardware
  • Non-projecting wheel nuts, discs, and caps

In all my years (and there are a lot of them!) I don’t ever remember seeing those listed in a brochure before.
