Considering that it was probably one of the more popular imports of its day, I’m kind of surprised at the dearth of these cars at local cruise-ins and car shows. Maybe we’re in the wrong geographical location for that. Nevertheless, we saw this c1977 Toyota Celica GT last summer on a side street in Niagara Falls, Ontario during a weekly Queen Street Cruising on the Q cruise night. Often thought of as Japan’s answer to the Mustang, the Celica was available in this liftback form as well as the two-door coupe seen below. A convertible finally came along for MY 1984, made in the U.S.
