It was always my understanding that the small V-symbols (left) like the ones under the taillights of this 1955 Chevrolet Two-Ten indicated that Chevy’s all-new V8 engine was under the hood. A quick look at a few hundred Google images of 1955 Chevys now has me wondering. Was this (the emblem) an optional accessory? It’s not listed in the accessories brochure. Have the myriad of obviously V8-equipped ’55 Chevys on the internet lost their V8 badges; or perhaps they were just all (not likely) converted to V8s from their original inline sixes? Inquiring minds want to know. We saw this one just last week during a steady rain in Tonawanda.
