One big difference between the German and U.S. versions of the 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is spelled out in the brochure: “In die Leuchteinheiten sind Halogenscheinwerfer mit asymmetrischem Alllicht und integrierten großflächigen Blinkern integriert.” Oh, sorry. That’s the German brochure. It’s explaining the German/Euro versions’ asymmetrical halogen headlights with integrated turn signal units. (See bottom photo.) In North America we still got the same old round sealed beams you saw on every American car. And in the brochure photo you can also see the optional headlight wiper/washer system. Came across this perfect summer RealRide in July of 2018 at a weekly cruise night on Webster Street in North Tonawanda.
