This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300 D was seen last fall in a Tonawanda parking lot. Often spoken of with reverence for their tank-like durability, this turbo diesel sedan was described by M-B as the car which “…accelerates you into the mainstream of modern automotive performance,” going on to describe how “its engine propels 3585 lbs. of technical enlightenment meant to instill driver confidence and trust.” As this is written, there are a few for sale on eBay: a 1984 in Florida with 194,000 miles, (so far with 16 bids) presently at $4,600 with the reserve not yet met; a 1983 SD, also in Florida, with 98,000 miles and a buy-it-now price of $9,500; and another 1983, in Michigan, with 270,000 miles, presently at $2,050 with 25 bids (and it looks like no reserve).
