At the risk of offending any fans of the newer models, I’m going to say that I’d prefer this 1972 Jeep J-2000 pickup over any model of the current Gladiator — including the (IMO) very cartoonish-looking Mohave pictured below (starting MSRP: $44,140. Yikes!). The original Gladiator pickup based off of the Wagoneer was introduced for MY 1963, and over the years was also called: the Jeep Truck; a plethora of J-series names depending on load capacity; and eventually, a number of trim options which lent a name to the pickup, such as Honcho, Pioneer, and Golden Eagle. Production of Jeep’s full-sized pickups ended in 1988. We saw this one back in 2016 at a Studebaker swap meet in Dunkirk.
