RealRides of WNY - 1979 El Camino

While we’re not sure if the paint color on this 1979 Chevy El Camino is factory or not, we are sure that we like it! Regular readers of this page won’t be surprised that we also like the fact that this Elky still looks pretty stock. The brochure told us the El Camino had “…the style, comfort and luxury of a fine passenger car plus the hard-working ability of a tough Chevy truck.” Its payload capacity was 800 pounds, and it was available in four versions: base, Conquista, Super Sport, and Royal Knight. See the different features in the inset. Today’s RealRide, seen a few years ago at a car show at the old Lancaster Speedway, appears to be a Conquista. (See the entire brochure here to see the feature references.)
