Many of us remember seeing these in our neighborhoods back in the day on a regular basis. Some of them might even have been the version where the operator stood while driving using hand controls. Below is an illustration from the book “Divco — A History of the Truck and Company” which shows how that worked. Looks mighty confusing to me! The iconic Divco Model-U milk truck started production in 1938 and continued for 48 years! This one was photographed outside of Hoover’s Dairy in Sanborn a while back.
