RealRides of WNY - 1978 LTD

Back when this 1978 Ford LTD was new, you could still find neighborhoods full of full-size American sedans in the driveways. It also wasn’t unusual to find a blue one with a matching blue vinyl top and interior. These days… not so much on either count. This LTD was at the bottom range of a very condensed big Ford lineup (only six models), which was headed by a more-upscale LTD Landau. All of the non-wagon models had a 302cid V8 as standard equipment, with a 351, 400, or a 460 as options. The warranty blurb on the back cover of the brochure mentions how their improved scheduled maintenance program could save owners around $390 a year… based on the standard $14.50 per hour labor rate! We saw this one in the City of Tonawanda a few weeks ago.
