Seeing a Volvo 245, c1977, in this condition still on the streets usually means one of two things: you’re in Vermont, or you’re in the Pacific Northwest. Okay, or maybe you’re in Sweden. This Berkshire Green wagon was spotted a couple of years ago in Seattle, Washington by RealRides contributor (and my eldest offspring) Katie. Looking through some old brochures, for the second time in a week we may have discovered one of Volvo's featured cars (see bottom of page). Another of Volvo’s brochures told us how the 245 had “…a carrying capacity rivaling bigger domestic station wagons,” which they went on to show us in a cutaway (inset). I haven’t looked into it lately, but in 1977 Volvo was still offering overseas deliveries, “…designed so you can get the most out of your European vacation.”
