When I first spotted this 1978 Ford LTD II at this summer’s Olcott Beach Car Show in Olcott I thought it looked like an old unmarked police car. Closer inspection revealed an optional Dove Grey vinyl top which blended perfectly with the Dove Grey paint job. The four-door base model LTD II could be had with optional C-pillar opera windows, not seen on today’s RealRide. Perhaps the dog dish hubcaps and black rims are what made me this this was a detective car; or, some police department splurged on the vinyl roof and red pinstripes. Either way, it’s a rarity to see one these days.
