Yeah, I’d say this 1978 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham XS is pretty rare — only 2,453 of them left the factory that year. The XS was actually an option package for Olds’ big front-wheel-drive coupe... an option package with an MSRP of $2,700 which included a “…sliding sunroof and panoramic rear window.” Olds mentioned in the brochure “sunroof reduces headroom.” Yes, been there; done that. That wraparound rear window used something called hot-wire glass-bending technology, which was also seen on the 1977-78 Chevrolet Impala and Caprice two-door models. We came across this one a couple of weeks ago in a North Tonawanda parking lot.
