RealRides of WNY - 1972 Ford

At first glance you might look at this 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 and say “cop car.” But that’s what a set of dog dish hubcaps and blackwall tires will do. This Galaxie 500 is not only not the basest of the big '72 Fords, it’s also a four-door hardtop — an odd choice for a police cruiser. No, most likely if your municipality was buying Blue Oval cop cars they’d have been four-door sedans out of the Custom or Custom 500 lineup (bottom of page). We saw this Light Blue (honest, that’s the official paint color name) example a few weeks ago in The Old First Ward in Buffalo.
