RealRides of WNY - 1957 DeSoto

Whenever I hear the automotive term Forward Look, what usually pops into my head is something like this 1957 DeSoto Firesweep Sportsman, in Fiesta Red and White. The fins… the two-toning… those taillights… and, I believe that the exhaust exited through the bumper, just below those “Signal-tower taillights.” Some models (there were four series in all: Firesweep, Firedome, Fireflight, and Adventurer) were available with interiors which featured something called “Westminster Tweed” which was “…dramatically accented with Vinyahide bolsters.” Vinyahide! (And no, that’s not a typo — see the brochure caption inset.) Lol… Saw this RealRide last month behind a Tonawanda repair shop.
