RealRides of WNY - 1968 Barracuda

Regular readers of this space have undoubtedly heard the story of what I consider my first real car (yes, it’s a l-o-n-g story), which was similar in body style to this 1968 Plymouth Formula S Barracuda, but was a ’67 in Bright Blue Poly with a matching interior (and it wasn’t a Formula S). The Barracuda was based on the compact Valiant (much like the Ford Mustang was based on the Falcon) but it was meant to appeal to a whole different clientele. Available in three body styles starting with MY 1967 (the hardtop like today’s RealRide, as well as a fastback and a convertible), Plymouth covered a lot of bases, telling us “The Barracuda likes to go places. To beach parties. Deb parties. Church socials. Blasts. Wedding receptions. And the corner grocery.” They didn’t mention cruise nights though, which is where we saw this one last summer in Olcott.
