Day 6 as we travel back to 1956 for a week…
It was almost ten years ago that we came across this 1956 Chrysler New Yorker in a Village of Lewiston parking lot. For model year 1956, your Chrysler choices were Windsor and New Yorker. They each had distinctive front bumper/grille combos, and only the New Yorker spelled out the Chrysler name in block letters across the trunk lid; the Windsor had a Chrysler emblem centered above the trunk lock. We were still a year away from Chrysler’s “Forward Look” styling makeover. Yet Chrysler’s lineup was modern-looking enough for them to proclaim them “The New ‘PowerStyle’ Chrysler” in one ad, and “The Year-Ahead Car” in another.
