Day 1 of a week looking at the cars of Lansing…
That’s Lansing, Michigan of course, which for years was home to the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors. This 1965 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight stood at the top of the Olds heap that year — as it had since being introduced as a model back in 1946 called Custom Cruiser 98. For model year 1948 the name changed to Futuramic 98, and finally for 1951 it morphed into the plain ol’ 98, but only for one year before dropping the numerics and spelling out Ninety-Eight beginning in 1952. The name was retired after the 1996 Ninety-Eight Series I and II four-door sedans went out of production. Today’s RealRide was seen last summer at the 11th Annual Elk Street Car Show in Buffalo.
