The fender badge on this 1978 Buick Regal Limited indicates that it’s equipped with a 5.0L V8 — the standard powerplant would have been a 3.2L V6 (except in California and designated high-altitude areas, which got a 3.8L V6). If this had been a Regal Sport Coupe its standard equipment 3.8L engine would have been turbocharged, but again things were more complicated in the above-mentioned areas of the U.S. Surprisingly, according to the brochure, manual steering was still standard equipment, even in the high-falutin’ Regal Limited, as was a three-speed manual transmission with the standard engine (the 5-liter came with an automatic). We saw this one last fall in North Tonawanda.
