RealRides of WNY - 1966 Classic 770

Not often you come across a 1966 Rambler Classic 770 in this neck of the woods at this time of the year. But we found this one just down the street from the RealRides Tonawanda offices a few weeks ago. It’s wearing an Ohio tag on the front, and a Lambert Motors dealer sticker on the back. Lambert was an American Motors dealer in Troy, Ohio (just north of Dayton). In 1972 they announced they were also the new MG/Austin American dealer in town at the same location. AMC’s brochure touted the 770 as the “…very luxury Classic. But if you’re shopping on a budget, the 550 makes a beautiful buy.” Even that less expensive 550 buyer got “…more headroom than a Grand Prix. More leg room than a Riviera. More shoulder room than a Thunderbird.” But they still probably found their cars parked in the back row by most valets.
